Create » 3. Powering the Create

Note: There are two ways to complete this step:

  1. Basic Method: No tools or soldering required, but requires an external battery and charger.
  2. Advanced Method: Requires soldering. You make a power cable to power the Qwerk off of the Create's internal battery.

7.2V RC Car battery
Qwerk Power Cable
One 2" strip of velcro

  1. Connect the female plug from the battery to its corresponding male attachment on the Qwerk Power Cable.

Each end of the Qwerk Power Cable has a slightly different shape that will indicate which end fits with its corresponding connection.

  2. Connect the other end of the Qwerk Power Cable to its corresponding port on the Qwerk.

  3. Remove the tape (exposing the adhesive) from one side of the Velcro strip and attach it to the top of the Qwerk.

  4. Remove the tape (exposing the adhesive) from the other side of the Velcro strip and carefully place the battery on top of the Qwerk so that it is secured by the adhesive.

    This battery is now connected.

  2. Solder the black wire (the grounding wire) of the Female Battery Connector to pin 25 on the DB25 connector.

  3. Plug the male end of the Qwerk Power Cable into the Female Battery Connector.

  4. Plug the DB25 connector into its corresponding port in the cargo bay connector on the iRobot Create.

  5. Plug the other end of the Qwerk Power Cable into its corresponding port on the Qwerk.

The internal battery is now connected.
