Qwerkbot Teleop Interface

Beginner

The Teleop Interface allows you to teleoperate your robot using the onscreen controls or your keyboard. You can view video from the robot's camera and drive the robot. If you make a Qwerkbot+, you can also control the pan and tilt of the camera with this interface.

To run the Teleop Interface, click on "Launch Software" below. Note that you may get a security warning. Accept the digital signature in order to run the application.

Selecting your robot's speed

Once you have launched the Teleop Interface software and booted up your robot, press the "Connect" button and follow the steps to connect to your robot.

Click the Slow, Fast, or Lightning radio button to select your robot's speed. This speed controls the motion of the robot and the pan and tilt speed of the robot's camera.

Moving your robot

Using the onscreen controls

  1. Locate the motor controls on the display.
  2. To move your robot forward, click the orange arrow pointing up.
  3. To move your robot backward, click the orange arrow pointing down.
  4. To spin your robot left, click the orange arrow curving left.
  5. To spin your robot right, click the orange arrow curving right.

Using the keyboard

  1. Press the "up" arrow key to move your robot forward.
  2. Press the "down" arrow key to move your robot backward.
  3. Press the "left" arrow key to spin your robot left.
  4. Press the "right" arrow key to spin your robot right.

Centering, tilting, and panning your robot’s camera (Qwerkbot+ only)

Centering your robot's camera

Locate the servo controls on the display and click the dot in the middle of the arrows. This sets the position of both the pan and tilt servos to 127.

Using the onscreen controls to tilt your robot’s camera

  1. Click the orange arrow pointing up to tilt your robot’s camera up.
  2. Click the orange arrow pointing down to tilt your robot’s camera down.

Using the onscreen controls to pan your robot’s camera

  1. Click the orange arrow pointing left to pan your robot’s camera left.
  2. Click the orange arrow pointing right to pan your robot’s camera right.

Using the keyboard to tilt your robot’s camera

  1. Hold down the shift key and press the “up” arrow key to tilt your robot’s camera up.
  2. Hold down the shift key and press the “down” arrow key to tilt your robot’s camera down.

Using the keyboard to pan your robot’s camera

  1. Hold down the shift key and press the “left” arrow key to pan your robot’s camera left.
  2. Hold down the shift key and press the “right” arrow key to pan your robot’s camera right.

Saving a picture from the robot’s camera

  1. Click the "Save Picture" button located below the viewer on the display.
  2. Choose a directory where you would like to save your picture.
  3. Type a new filename for your picture.
  4. Click "Save."

Pausing the video

Click the "Pause Video" button located below the viewer on the display. Pausing the video will mean less data is flowing between the robot and your computer so the robot will respond to commands faster and the software will use less bandwidth.

Disconnecting from your robot

Click the "Disconnect" button above the motor and servo controls on the display.
